About the Opportunity
Doherty Staffing Solutions is hiring a Buyer for a manufacturing company in a hands-on, blue‑collar production environment. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being out on the shop floor, collaborating cross‑functionally, and taking ownership of supplier performance and sourcing decisions. If you’re highly skilled in Excel, comfortable working in a casual factory setting, and thrive in a fast‑paced environment, this could be a great next step in your career.
What You'll Do as a Buyer:
• Manage supplier performance related to quality, delivery, cost, and capability
• Prepare and solicit RFQs and proposals; conduct make‑vs‑buy analyses
• Negotiate pricing, lead cost‑reduction initiatives, and manage total acquisition cost
• Support new product development from concept through production, including supplier selection
• Collaborate with engineering and suppliers on design changes, new component releases, and technical improvements
• Monitor supplier capacity, lead times, and on‑time delivery to support production schedules
• Lead supplier negotiations, issue resolution, and corrective action plans
What You Need to Bring to the Buyer role:
• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, or a technical field preferred
• 4 years of purchasing, sourcing, planning, or buyer experience in a manufacturing environment
• Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, formulas, VLOOKUPs required)
• Comfort working in a casual, collaborative, factory‑floor setting (not a sit‑at‑your‑desk all day role)
• Production or manufacturing background strongly preferred
• Experience with Business Central, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar ERP systems a plus
• Strong negotiation, communication, and cross‑functional collaboration skills
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship #metrocareers
