THE IMPACT YOU’LL MAKE:
As a SAW OPERATOR you will be at the heart of our production process, transforming raw steel into precisely cut components that meet exact specifications. Your skill and attention to detail will directly influence the quality of our products, the efficiency of our operations, and the satisfaction of our customers across construction, manufacturing, and engineering sectors.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Operate and maintain steel cutting machinery such as shears, saws, plasma cutters, or CNC cutting systems.
- Read and interpret workorders and cutting lists to ensure accurate dimensions.
- Measure, mark, and align steel materials before cutting to maintain precision.
- Assist with sorting, stacking, and preparing cut steel for the next stage of production.
- Monitor cutting operations to ensure quality and adherence to safety protocols.
- Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment to prevent downtime.
- Collaborate with production teams to meet daily output targets and deadlines.
- Safely handle and move steel materials using cranes, hoists, or forklifts.
- Keep detailed records of materials used, cuts made, and any deviations from specifications.
- Responsible for organizing steel for specific orders and stock.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Preferred 1-2 years experience in steel cutting or metal fabrication in an industrial environment; otherwise, willing to train.
- Practices a strong work ethic.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Possesses qualities such as productivity, dependability, resourcefulness, efficiency, and professionalism.
- Ability to read and interpret workorders and measurement tools (tape measures, calipers, micrometers).
- Familiarity with operating and troubleshooting cutting machinery and related equipment.
- Strong understanding of workplace safety standards and PPE requirements.
- Physical stamina and the ability to work in a hot, noisy, and fast-paced environment.
