What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Doctor G Family Medical Services?
Doctor G Family Medical Services in Elizabeth City, NC is looking for one cross-trained medical receptionist/medical assistant to join our team. We are located on 902 B Roanoke Ave in Elizabeth City. Our ideal candidate is professional, motivated, enjoys patient care and has strong verbal and written communication skills.
Seeking employee to work approximately 4 days a week from 7:45am-Close (typically from 4-5pm)
Responsibilities
- Room patients and obtain vital signs
- Document History of Present Illness and Review of Systems
- Perform basic clinical procedures (EKG, vaccines, INR, ear lavage, etc.)
- Medication reconciliation
- Prepare and sanitize exam rooms
- Verify and maintain accurate patient records in the EHR
- Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff
- Answer high-volume phone calls and route messages
- Assist with patient check-in and check-out
- Maintain clinical supplies and infection control standards
- Provide exceptional patient service
- Perform clerical duties as needed
Qualifications
- Experience working in a medical field, ideally in a medical office
- Familiar with Hipaa standards
- Knowledge of healthcare insurance and how to collect co-pays, past due balances etc.
- Familiarity working with medical equipment and office technology
- High attention to detail with exceptional organizational skills
- Ability to de-escalate situations with empathic listening skills and a problem solving mind-set.
- Knowledge of EHRs and other software used by medical offices. Quickly learns new technology programs. Our EHR: Athena
