What are the responsibilities and job description for the Assistant Superintendent position at DOC?
DOC is seeking an Assistant Superintendent. This individual will work on site at a dedicated construction project, they will assist the Project Superintendent with field management, layout and safety enforcement. Projects include commercial and public work within our core markets: institutional and commercial buildings, specialized industrial construction, infrastructure, and heavy construction.
The Assistant Superintendent works under the direction of the Project Superintendent and Project Manager.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Oversees and assists with project layout and trains field engineers.
- Assist with management of field personnel; including DOC employed tradespeople and subcontractors.
- Complete look ahead schedules and provide information for schedule updates.
- Communicate with owner and engineer/architect personnel.
- Understand and track production rates and quantities for cost management.
- Review submittals for constructability and coordination; oversee field coordination between multiple trades.
- Enforce jobsite safety protocols; ensure everyone on site is aware of and following DOC safety rules and regulations.
Position Qualifications
- Understanding of major construction methods and procedures.
- Strong communication skills.
- In-depth understanding of field engineering principles and procedures.
- Understand labor trade agreements.
Education & Experience
- Broad knowledge of construction practices and procedures. Four-year degree or equivalent combinations of technical training and/or related experience.
- Minimum 3 years relevant construction experience.
- Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience with project management software and the ability to navigate CAD and BIM files/models.
- OSHA 30 Certification, CPR/First Aid Training and Construction Supervisor's License are a plus.
Working Conditions
The working conditions of this position requires the employee to work both inside and outside, traverse a construction site, utilizing stairs, ladders, etc and utilize personal protective equipment.
