Elayn Hunt Correctional Center is seeking a dedicated and skilled Maintenance Repairer to join our team. This role is essential to ensuring the safety, functionality, and daily operations of our facility. As a Maintenance Repairer, you will work in a dynamic environment where your technical abilities, problem-solving skills, and commitment to quality workmanship directly support the center’s mission of secure and humane correctional care.

Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience or training in the building construction trades, building maintenance, maintenance or repair of mechanical equipment, or park operations and grounds maintenance; OR
Completion of a two-year vocational technical program in general building construction, construction technology, or engineering; OR
Twelve semester hours in construction management, construction technology, or engineering, or any combination of these courses.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Performs minor repairs and maintenance on navigational lock systems, including replacing hydraulic hoses, inspecting components for wear, and ensuring proper operation to support safe and reliable facility functions.

Maintains and repairs a wide range of motorized equipment, conducting routine tune-ups, troubleshooting mechanical issues, and replacing or adjusting worn or damaged parts such as carburetors, generators, alternators, starters, pumps, and brake components.
Also performs limited disassembly of major components—including engines, transmissions, and final drives—to assess damage, determine repair needs, and support equipment readiness. - Executes general building and facility repairs, including work on interiors, exteriors, furniture, fixtures, and structural components. Tasks may involve carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and maintenance of HVAC systems to ensure a safe, functional, and well-maintained environment for staff and offenders.

- This position is a ‘when actually employed’ (WAE) position without benefits.
