The Electronic Technician-WAE maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs a wide range of cutting-edge office and communication technologies—including electronic and mechanical equipment, advanced telecommunications systems, television systems, and mobile communication devices—ensuring seamless operations and reliable performance across the organization.
Minimum Qualifications
Two years of experience or training in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR
Two years of experience or training in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software); OR
Possession of a CompTIA A Certification plus one of the following:
1. One year of experience in the maintenance or repair of mechanical or electronic office equipment, precision machinery, or electronic/electrical systems; OR
2. One year of experience in the installation, repair, or maintenance of computer equipment or systems (hardware and/or software).
EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:
Every six semester hours earned from an accredited college or university in electronics or computer science will substitute for one year of the required experience.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess an appropriate Federal Communications Commission (FCC) radio-telephone license when working with marine and aviation transmitting equipment or with radar.

Job Duties and Other Information
Job Duties:
- Reads and interprets electric and electronic schematics and mechanical layouts during diagnosis and repair of equipment.
- Makes estimates of repairs to determine if feasible.
- Provides visual inspection of television equipment, checking for safety defects and repairing as required.
- Maintains an inventory of parts for immediate and emergency repairs.
- Performs diagnosis and repairs on electronic and mechanical equipment.
- Performs preventive maintenance operations as required on a periodic basis.
- General from a Program Manager 1-Social Services or other higher level personnel
- May directly or functionally supervise a small staff of clerical and/or professional employees.

- This position is a ‘when actually employed’ (WAE) position without benefits.
