What are the responsibilities and job description for the Social Media Video Editor & Content Creator position at Do It Right Plumbers?
About Us We're a residential plumbing company in Orange County, CA with a brand our customers genuinely trust. We shoot video daily — job-site walkthroughs, before/afters, team moments, and educational clips. We need an editor who can take that raw footage and turn it into a high volume of polished, platform-optimized content, consistently, every week.
The Role Remote, ongoing contract — not a one-off. You'll own the full production workflow: receiving and organizing raw assets, editing finished content, and delivering 25–50 pieces per week across YouTube, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, TikTok, and Facebook. This isn't a role for someone who edits one video at a time. We need someone who looks at a 10-minute job walkthrough and asks "how many versions can I get from this?" — then executes.
What You'll Do
- Receive and organize raw video/photo files in a structured shared folder system
- Edit footage into platform-ready content with captions, music, text overlays, and proper formatting
- Repurpose, remix, and optimize the same source content into multiple variations for different platforms
- Deliver on a consistent weekly schedule, every week
- Communicate proactively about turnaround times and footage quality
What We're Looking For
- 3 years editing short-form social content with a portfolio showing real performance (views/engagement, not just aesthetics)
- Fluent in Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, CapCut, or equivalent
- Deep understanding of platform-specific formatting: aspect ratios, hook structure, pacing for Reels vs. Shorts vs. YouTube
- Experience editing for a service-based business — trades, home services, construction, or similar
- Can find the story in raw, unscripted footage without creative direction from our team
- Thinks in terms of volume and iteration — speed, creativity, and high output matter here
- A documented system for file intake, organization, and delivery
What We're NOT Looking For
- Someone whose portfolio is personal vlogs or music videos only
- Someone who needs us to script or direct every edit
- Anyone who can't commit to consistent weekly output at volume
Compensation Flat weekly or monthly retainer. Rate is negotiable based on experience and portfolio quality.
How to Apply Send your portfolio with 2–3 examples of short-form content edited for a service business. If you don't have service industry work, share your two best-performing Reels or Shorts with view counts. Include your intake/delivery process and your retainer rate.
