Position Overview
Are you looking for a new challenge? Due to the continued growth at DNT Construction, we are seeking a Senior Accountant or Accounting Manager (depending on experience) to join our team. We will consider an experienced Controller as well. This position reports directly to the CFO.

This role will play a key part in overseeing accounting and administrative functions, ensuring the accuracy of financial records, and partnering with operational teams to support company goals.

Key Responsibilities
Accounting & Financial Operations
- Prepare and review general ledger reconciliations and supporting schedules
- Ensure accuracy of the general ledger; research and resolve discrepancies within accounting systems
- Own and coordinate the month-end and year-end close processes
- Maintain fixed asset records and process monthly depreciation
- Maintain debt and lease schedules
- Ensure compliance with payroll tax filings (941, 940, W-2s)
Project & Operational Support
- Prepare and analyze Accounts Receivable aging reports for weekly operations meetings
- Partner with Project Managers and Project Coordinators to support billing, collections, and job cost inquiries
- Respond to Accounts Payable coding questions and ensure proper general ledger classification
- Complete and support credit applications for customers and vendors
Process Improvement & Compliance
- Develop, document, and improve accounting processes, policies, and internal controls when necessary
- Ensure quality and accuracy across all financial transactions and reporting
- Assist with audit preparation and provide documentation for external auditors (Workers Comp, General Liability, year-end financials, 401k, etc.)
- Support accounting for related entities as needed
Leadership & Team Support (Level Dependent)
- Coordinate monthly close activities with department managers
- Depending on experience, assist with or lead hiring, training, and oversight of accounting and administrative staff
- Support scheduling, task assignment, and follow-up to ensure timely completion of responsibilities
Additional Responsibilities
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and business operations
- Contribute to team objectives and support additional projects and initiatives as needed
Qualifications Required
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- 5–8 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and general accounting principles
- Experience with accounting/ERP systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in construction not necessary, but would be beneficial
- Prior leadership or supervisory experience (for Accounting Manager level)
