Job Summary:
We are looking for a knowledgeable and experienced Senior HVAC/R Technician to install, maintain, and repair heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration systems. This senior-level role includes diagnosing complex issues, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring compliance with safety and industry standards in both residential and commercial environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, troubleshoot, maintain, and repair HVAC and refrigeration (HVAC/R) systems including furnaces, heat pumps, air conditioning units, walk-in coolers, freezers, chillers, and rooftop units.
- Perform complex diagnostics and system performance analysis.
- Lead HVAC/R service and installation projects with minimal supervision.
- Ensure all work meets local codes, regulations, and manufacturer specifications.
- Provide technical support and guidance to junior technicians and apprentices.
- Maintain service records, complete work orders, and communicate findings to customers or supervisors.
- Manage tools, materials, and vehicle inventory for job readiness.
- Perform preventative maintenance and recommend system upgrades or replacements.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations, especially handling of refrigerants.
- Interface with clients in a professional manner, explaining technical issues clearly and offering effective solutions.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification preferred.
- 5 years of hands-on HVAC/R experience, with advanced technical knowledge.
- EPA 608 Certification required; NATE or similar certifications preferred.
- Strong understanding of mechanical, electrical, and refrigeration systems.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
- Excellent troubleshooting, problem-solving, and leadership skills.
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and work in various environments, including rooftops and tight spaces.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS/BMS)
- Proficiency in brazing, soldering, and piping techniques
- Familiarity with digital service tools and HVAC software
- Strong customer service and communication skills
