The incumbent will be responsible for driving operational excellence by improving manufacturing processes, optimizing quality, and supporting the overall efficiency of their Strategic Business Unit (SBU). This role focuses on leading quality improvement initiatives while collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance production, reduce costs, and achieve strategic goals. The incumbent is an active member of the Efficiency Team, this role is crucial for enhancing collaboration and ensuring operational excellence.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as a leader in quality improvement efforts across the SBU, establishing and maintaining high standards for product quality, processes, and outcomes.
- Identify, analyze, and resolve production quality issues by implementing root cause analysis and sustainable corrective actions.
- Develop, implement, and monitor quality control processes, including the identification of Critical to Quality (CTQ) parameters, product testing standards, and documentation.
- Collaborate with the Efficiency Team to identify, plan, and execute cost reduction and throughput improvement projects. The Operational Efficiency Engineer will work with the other Efficiency Team members to meets their initiatives, ensuring alignment between strategic goals and operational improvements.
- Be a project management professional by planning, scheduling, and leading capital and process improvement projects to completion, ensuring alignment with time, cost, and quality targets.
- Support the training of production operators and crew leaders on quality standards, new processes, and best practices.
- Serve as a technical expert on equipment, machinery, and production systems, ensuring optimal performance and efficiency.
- Foster communication between departments, including Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations, to align goals and project plans.
- Utilize data-driven decision-making to monitor, analyze, and improve production efficiency (OEE), quality, and throughput.
- Drive continuous improvement through Lean, Six Sigma, and other manufacturing methodologies. In collaboration with the Efficiency Team, this position fosters continuous improvement and supports achieving manufacturing efficiency goals.
- Develop reports and documentation to support decisions, including ROI analyses, quality trend analyses, and project updates.
EDUCATION & SKILLS
Education:
4-year Engineering Degree preferred (e.g., BME, BSME, BMET). Additional certifications in Lean, Six Sigma, or Quality Management Systems are highly desirable.
Skills:
- Proven experience (3-5 years) in manufacturing engineering, with a strong focus on quality improvement.
- Experience in quality management, including knowledge of ISO standards, statistical process control, and quality audits.
- Expertise in Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma principles.
- Strong problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering measurable improvements.
- Familiarity with industry-specific equipment, processes, and materials (e.g., sheet metal).
- Proficiency in data analysis tools and quality tracking software.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills.
- Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively lead and influence across teams.
