Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Mechanic Assistant to join our dynamic maintenance team. In this role, you will support skilled heavy equipment and vehicle mechanics by assisting with repairs, diagnostics, and routine maintenance across a variety of machinery and automotive systems. Your energetic approach and mechanical aptitude will help ensure our fleet and equipment operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. Duties
- Assist with the inspection, diagnosis, and repair of heavy machinery, including excavators, cranes, forklifts, and farm equipment.
- Support automotive repairs such as brake systems, transmissions, suspensions, electrical systems, and engine diagnostics.
- Use hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and fabrication techniques to perform repairs or modifications on various machinery.
- Operate heavy equipment like loaders or forklifts to move parts or assist with equipment maintenance tasks.
- Read schematics and technical manuals to aid in troubleshooting mechanical systems or electrical components.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire service, fluid checks, and filter replacements.
- Maintain accurate records of repairs performed and parts used; support inventory management for tools and supplies.
Experience
- Experience with MIG, TIG, and stick welding, cutting, and metal fabrication is required.
- Hands-on experience operating excavators, cranes, forklifts, or other heavy equipment is desirable.
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, vehicle maintenance procedures, and mechanical systems repair is essential.
- Understanding of schematics related to hydraulic systems, transmissions, air brakes, suspension components, HVAC systems, and electrical wiring.
- Experience with diesel engines, heavy truck repair (including tractor-trailers), and industrial equipment will set candidates apart.
- Strong mechanical knowledge complemented by proficiency with hand tools, power tools, soldering techniques, and welding processes.
