The Director, Patient Enrollment & Engagement, is responsible for providing strategic leadership and comprehensive oversight of all patient enrollment and engagement initiatives. This role involves developing and implementing departmental strategies, managing a team of managers and specialists, and ensuring the achievement of ambitious enrollment targets while maintaining the highest standards of quality, compliance, and patient experience. The Director will drive continuous improvement efforts and foster strong interdepartmental collaborations to optimize patient acquisition and retention funnels.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic Leadership & Team Management:
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Patient Enrollment and Patient Engagement Managers and Specialists.
- Set departmental goals and key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with organizational objectives.
- Conduct performance reviews, provide ongoing feedback, and foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement within the team.
- Develop and implement training programs to enhance team skills and knowledge.
Program Development & Oversight:
- Design, implement, and optimize comprehensive patient recruitment and engagement strategies across multiple therapeutic areas.
- Oversee the execution of patient outreach, screening, scheduling, and retention programs, ensuring adherence to best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Identify and implement innovative technologies and methodologies to improve enrollment efficiency and patient satisfaction.
- Ensure all patient communications are consistent, compliant, and reflective of the company's brand and values.
Data Analysis & Performance Optimization:
- Analyze complex patient enrollment and engagement data, including conversion rates, demographic insights, and patient feedback, to identify trends and opportunities.
- Prepare detailed operational and strategic reports for senior leadership, providing actionable insights and recommendations.
- Proactively identify and address performance bottlenecks, developing and implementing corrective actions to ensure target achievement.
Quality Assurance & Compliance:
- Establish and enforce rigorous quality control measures for all patient interactions and data management.
- Ensure strict adherence to Good Clinical Practice (GCP), HIPAA regulations, and all relevant company Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across all team activities.
- Lead the development, review, and continuous improvement of departmental SOPs and training materials.
- Participate in internal and external audits, ensuring departmental readiness and compliance.
- Interdepartmental Collaboration & Stakeholder Management:
- Serve as a primary point of contact and collaborate closely with other internal departments, including Site Operations, Marketing, Clinical Operations, and Business Development, to ensure seamless integration of patient enrollment efforts.
- Represent the Patient Enrollment & Engagement department in cross-functional meetings and initiatives.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with external partners and vendors as needed to support enrollment strategies.
KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE
Education:
- Bachelor's degree required in a relevant field (e.g., Healthcare, Business Administration, Communications, Marketing). Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in patient enrollment, patient engagement, or a related operational leadership role within a healthcare or clinical research setting.
- At least 3-5 years of proven supervisory or management experience, ideally managing teams of managers or senior specialists.
- Demonstrated success in developing and executing strategic plans that significantly impact patient enrollment targets.
- Extensive experience with data analysis, performance reporting, and leveraging insights to drive operational improvements.
Knowledge and Skills:
- Exceptional leadership and team-building skills, with a demonstrated ability to motivate, inspire, and develop a diverse team.
- Superior verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills, including strong presentation abilities.
- Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to navigate complex challenges and make data-driven decisions.
- In-depth working knowledge of GCP (Good Clinical Practice) and HIPAA regulations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and advanced experience with CRM, patient management systems, and data visualization tools.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
