Job DescriptionThe Compliance Support Specialist is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of applicable regulations, including but not limited to BSA, Reg CC, and OFAC administered sanctions, etc. He or she is responsible for communicating and resolving monitoring discrepancies with Branch/Department personnel. The Compliance Support Specialist assists compliance department staff with various projects as needed. He or she assists with the development, preparation and conducting of compliance training organization wide. The Compliance Support Specialist is responsible for taking meeting minutes for the Compliance Department. He or she compiles and issues reports detailing conclusions and providing recommendations for improvement. The Compliance Support Specialist prepares and files reports with government agencies as directed by the Deposit Compliance Officer.QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED requiredOne to two years of banking experience in a retail banking environment; preferably in operations (teller and new accounts)College degree in business administration, accounting, or finance preferredPrevious experience with regulatory compliance helpfulThorough knowledge of applicable federal and state deposit financial regulations preferredAble to use a financial calculator and related computer applications and business machinesExcellent written and verbal communication skills requiredResponsibilitiesMonitors applicable processes and procedures in place to ensure compliance with various regulationsAssists with the implementation of regulatory changes as neededAssists the Deposit Compliance Officer with various regulatory functions including, but not limited to, government reporting, deposit regulations, monitoring and trainingDevelops an understanding of regulations in order to answer routine questions for customers, branch personnel and Executive ManagementAssist with the Bank’s BSA program compliance and monitoring, including assigning BSA alerts and ensuring adequate responses are received in a timely manner, assist in the processing of CTR’s, etc.Responsible for coordinating with branch personnel in BSA and deposit compliance matters to assist in identifying suspicious activity, determining if and what type of hold needs placed on a deposit, determining the funds availability schedule for funds during a hold, etc. Respond promptly and accurately to branch phone calls and emails regarding BSA (Bank Secrecy Act) related inquiries, providing guidance and support to ensure compliance with regulatory requirementsReports compliance violations to the Deposit Compliance Officer or VP Senior Compliance OfficerReviews all holds for branches to ensure compliance with Reg CCAssist with policy and procedure changes and updates in order to ensure that they are in accordance with evolving regulations as directedAssists with employee training as neededWrites general correspondenceWorks independently under general instructionsAssumes responsibility for establishing and maintaining effective communication and coordination with area personnel and with managementAssists area personnel as neededKeeps management informed of area activities and of any significant problems or concernsCompletes and submits required reports, records, and related documentsAttends meetings as requiredMaintains and projects the Bank's professional reputationPromotes D.L.
