House Manager

About Our Family:

We're a busy, fun-loving family of 4 in Roanoke, VA, looking for a dedicated and proactive household manager to help keep our home running smoothly. Our home is our haven and our family thrives when everything is organized, clean and tidy, meals and snacks are prepped, and schedules are coordinated. Both parents work from home and we have two teens, ages 13 and 15.

With our unique needs and schedules our days are quite busy and demanding between work, travel and school, making it difficult to keep up with daily tasks. We need someone who can help us get caught up initially and then maintain a sustainable rhythm going forward so we can actually enjoy our downtime and spend quality time together as a family.

To set you up for success, we are creating a comprehensive household manual so you can confidently take ownership of the day-to-day operations without needing constant direction. We are hoping to build a long-term partnership with someone who feels comfortable in our space and can develop a caring, professional relationship with our family over time.

• Support for Two Teenagers: You are willing to assist with transportation to various afternoon activities, and provide childcare and transportation support during occasional date nights or short family trips.

This is a long-term position with room to grow in both responsibility and scope over the years as our family evolves.Key Responsibilities

Meal Planning & Prep

• Plan and prepare ingredients for approximately 3-5 family dinners per week.
• Complete advance meal preparation such as chopping vegetables, marinating proteins, assembling meal components, or preparing fully cooked meals that can be easily reheated and served at dinnertime.
• Use our family's favorite recipes, cookbooks, and digital sources to plan weekly menus and shopping lists while accommodating various dietary preferences and needs.
• Batch prep and cook items for breakfasts and lunches, such as oatmeal, salads, “bowls,” and leftovers to be individually contained for each person to grab and go
• Batch prep fresh snacks to be easily accessed in the fridge such as fresh fruits, veggies, and dipping sauces

Household Management & Organization

• Perform daily resets including dishes, clearing surfaces, tidying, dusting, vacuuming and swiffering high-traffic areas, and trash removal
• Maintaining household organization systems
• Prepare the home for guest visits
• Provide packing and unpacking support when we travel
• Care for indoor plants
• Utilize household management technology and calendar systems

Laundry & Linen Care

• Wash, fold, and organize laundry following detailed care instructions
• Handle delicate items with specific washing preferences
• Rotate and refresh sheets, towels and other linens throughout the home
• Initially catch up on backed-up laundry, then maintain ongoing rhythm

Inventory & Errands

• Maintain lists for restocking pantry, fridge, household supplies
• Shop for and put away groceries
• Manage and organize household subscription services
• Change batteries, light bulbs, air filters, maintain smoke detectors
• Manage returns, mail, and package handling
• Refueling the family car and tidying of vehicle, as needed

Deep Cleaning & Special Projects

• Organize refrigerator and remove expired food as part of meal prep and pantry management, wipe down shelves and drawers
• Dusting and wiping down shelves, drawers, ceiling fans, baseboards throughout home
• Assist with current organization projects
• Maintain outdoor spaces, patio furniture, garden inventory

Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10.0 – 20.0 per week
