Payroll and Benefits ONSITE
Interested in joining one of the fastest growing commercial landscaping and snow removal companies in the Midwest? We are looking for a Payroll & Benefits Specialist to join our team! The primary focus will be on timely and accurate administration of payroll, benefits, compensation, and leaves of absence. Reviewing timesheets, calculation of wages, managing tax withholdings, and serving as the primary point of contact for employees with benefits and payroll inquiries. This position also works closely with HR team members handling recruiting and onboarding, supporting tasks such as migrant workforce hiring.

Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources or Business Administration preferred.

1 or more years in payroll and benefits administration experience desired.

Conducts payroll processing and submission, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local labor and wage laws.

Accurately calculates overtime, bonuses, commissions, retroactive pay, voluntary deductions and prevailing wage.

Manages unemployment claim processing, garnishments, and other involuntary deductions.

Manages benefits and leave administration; serving as a liaison between carrier and employee as needed.

Works closely with the Talent Acquisition Team, administering new hire onboarding tasks and ensuring all forms are completed and accurate.

Ensures all employee record changes (pay raises and adjustments, department information, position, new and returning hires, terminations, etc.) are accurately and properly processed and documented.

Maintains employee personnel files including I-9, medical, training files, and follows retention policies.

Prepares and posts different employee communications where required.

Acts as a liaison to our immigrant workforce agency, responsible for filing appropriate credentials including H2B visa documents.

Assures company policies and procedures are followed and maintains and ensures confidentiality of personal and proprietary information.

Educates employees on benefit programs, policies, and procedures.

Ensures HR compliance with state and federal laws; including labor posters and other requires legal postings.

Master knowledge of Employee Handbook and fully supports the Open-Door Policy by helping all employees when possible and/or directs them to the appropriate resources when appropriate.

Participates in internal and external audits as required.

Microsoft Office proficiency.

This is a full-time, exempt position operating in a professional office environment. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position occasionally requires longer hours and weekend work.

Occasional same-day travel to our other branch locations is required.

Physical requirements: Occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds.
