What are the responsibilities and job description for the Construction Designer position at DJ Construction Company, Inc.?
Primary Function
The position will work closely with the Manager of Design Services and in conjunction with project development and construction teams to develop design solutions from conceptual level through construction documentation.
Responsibilities
During design development and pricing phases:
- Attend project design meetings as needed to ensure knowledge of project scope.
- Work in conjunction with DJ project development team to determine project documentation needs for design development and pricing.
- With the use of design software (Revit), document all information needed for pricing.
During final project documentation phase:
- Attend project design meetings as needed to manage the design process.
- Work in conjunction with DJ construction team to determine final project documentation needs for construction.
- Attend internal design meetings to ensure design output requirements.
- Visit project sites to document conditions and obtain pertinent information as required, along with gaining a firsthand understanding of existing conditions.
- With the use of design software (Revit) document all information needed for state and local building approval process.
- With the use of design software (Revit), document all information needed to construct the proposed building project.
- As needed, draft mechanical and electrical documentation with information provided by contractors or consultants.
During construction:
- As directed by the Manager of Design Services provide additional clarifying information as requested by the construction teams.
Misc:
- Develop all documentation with an emphasis on accuracy, thoroughness and in a timely manner.
- Maintain understanding of new construction materials and details.
- Maintain understanding of all current and new building code requirements.
- Attend in-house and external design meetings as needed.
Qualifications
Experience with Revit design software and experience in the construction industry, or BS degree in an engineering, architectural, design and construction integration, or CGT program
