Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Bookkeeper to join our dynamic Real Estate team. In this vital role, you will manage and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring the integrity of our accounting processes. Your expertise will support our organization’s financial health by handling day-to-day bookkeeping tasks, reconciling accounts, and preparing essential financial reports. This is a hybrid position based in Santa Monica, requiring approximately 15–20 hours per month.
Duties
- Record and classify financial transactions using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar platforms
- Perform bank reconciliations and general ledger account reconciliations to ensure accuracy and completeness
- Prepare journal entries and maintain the integrity of the double-entry bookkeeping system in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, including invoice processing and payment tracking
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and account analysis to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly
- Assist with payroll processing, tax filings, and governmental accounting requirements as needed
- Generate financial reports, including profit & loss statements, balance sheets, and other management reports for internal review
Requirements
- Proven experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, Xero, Sage, or similar tools; proficiency in Quicken is a plus
- Strong understanding of corporate accounting principles, including GAAP and double-entry bookkeeping practices
- Familiarity with governmental accounting standards and tax regulations relevant to nonprofit organizations or public entities
- Ability to perform detailed account reconciliation, bank reconciliation, and account analysis accurately
- Excellent organizational skills with a focus on accuracy in data entry (10 key typing skills preferred)
- Experience with financial report writing, budgeting processes, and technical accounting concepts
