Job Summary
An infant teacher aide is responsible for assisting the lead infant teacher in providing a safe and nurturing environment for infants, supporting their daily needs including feeding, diapering, and playtime, actively observing developmental milestones, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom while closely monitoring the safety of the children under their care; they typically work under the guidance of a licensed early childhood educator, following established routines and curriculum to promote infant development.

Key responsibilities of an infant teacher aide:

  • Direct caregiving:
  • Changing diapers
  • Feeding infants
  • Assisting with hygiene practices like hand washing
  • Providing comfort and soothing techniques when needed
  • Classroom support:
  • Setting up and maintaining a safe and stimulating play environment
  • Preparing and presenting age-appropriate activities and materials
  • Implementing lesson plans focused on infant development stages
  • Engaging infants in interactive play and activities
  • Observation and documentation:
  • Monitoring children's behavior and developmental progress
  • Recording observations and documenting key milestones in individual child portfolios
  • Communicating concerns or developmental delays to the lead teacher
  • Communication and collaboration:
  • Maintaining open communication with parents, providing updates on their child's day
  • Collaborating with other staff members to ensure consistent care
  • Following all center policies and procedures related to child safety and health

Required skills and qualifications:

  • Passion for working with infants: Genuine interest in supporting early childhood development
  • Child development knowledge: Understanding of infant developmental milestones and appropriate activities
  • Basic caregiving skills: Ability to diaper changing, feeding, and comforting infants
  • Observation skills: Attention to detail when observing and documenting children's behavior
  • Communication skills: Effective verbal and written communication with parents and staff
  • Physical ability: Ability to lift and carry infants safely
  • Compliance with licensing requirements:Meeting state-mandated training and certifications for childcare workers

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $14.72 - $16.00 per hour
