Job Summary
An infant teacher aide is responsible for assisting the lead infant teacher in providing a safe and nurturing environment for infants, supporting their daily needs including feeding, diapering, and playtime, actively observing developmental milestones, and maintaining a clean and organized classroom while closely monitoring the safety of the children under their care; they typically work under the guidance of a licensed early childhood educator, following established routines and curriculum to promote infant development.
Key responsibilities of an infant teacher aide:
- Direct caregiving:
- Changing diapers
- Feeding infants
- Assisting with hygiene practices like hand washing
- Providing comfort and soothing techniques when needed
- Classroom support:
- Setting up and maintaining a safe and stimulating play environment
- Preparing and presenting age-appropriate activities and materials
- Implementing lesson plans focused on infant development stages
- Engaging infants in interactive play and activities
- Observation and documentation:
- Monitoring children's behavior and developmental progress
- Recording observations and documenting key milestones in individual child portfolios
- Communicating concerns or developmental delays to the lead teacher
