Duties
- Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Monitor patients’ vital signs and observe for any changes in health or behavior, documenting findings accurately
- Prepare nutritious meals tailored to individual dietary needs and assist with feeding when necessary
- Administer medications following care plans and ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality
- Utilize specialized equipment such as Hoyer lifts or resident’s
to safely transfer clients with mobility challenges - Maintain a clean and safe environment through light housekeeping tasks such as cleaning, laundry, and organizing personal spaces
- Support clients with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer’s care, employing patience and specialized techniques
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to implement personalized care plans and provide consistent patient monitoring
- Provide emotional support and companionship, fostering social engagement and mental stimulation
- Follow all safety protocols, including CPR and First Aid procedures, to respond effectively during emergencies
Requirements
- Prior experience working in assisted living facilities, nursing homes, group homes, or home & community care settings is highly preferred
- Knowledge of patient observation techniques, medication administration, and vital signs monitoring is essential
- Certification in First Aid and CPR is required; additional training in dementia or Alzheimer’s care is a plus
- Ability to lift heavy objects safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts is necessary
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or autism enhances your ability to provide comprehensive support
- Familiarity with HIPAA regulations ensures confidentiality and professional standards are maintained at all times
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with healthcare teams, patients, and families effectively
