• Essential Responsibilities
• Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair diesel-powered buses and motor coaches.
• Perform repairs on Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, and Volvo engines.
• Diagnose and repair transmissions, suspension, steering, brake, HVAC, hydraulic, and electrical systems.
• Perform preventive maintenance, including oil and filter changes, fluid inspections, tire service and replacement, brake inspections, wheel alignments, suspension repairs, and air brake service.
• Utilize electronic diagnostic software, manufacturer schematics, and testing equipment to accurately identify and resolve vehicle issues.
• Inspect vehicles to ensure compliance with company safety standards and DOT regulations.
• Create and maintain electronic repair orders using Fullbay or similar fleet maintenance software.
• Accurately document repairs, inspections, labor, and parts usage.
• Coordinate parts requirements with the Parts Department to ensure timely repairs.
• Support the fleet preventive maintenance program to minimize downtime and maximize vehicle reliability.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while following all company safety procedures.

Qualifications Required

• Experience as a Diesel Mechanic, Diesel Technician, Heavy Equipment Mechanic, Engine Technician, School Bus Mechanic, or Commercial Fleet Mechanic.
• Strong knowledge of diesel engines, transmissions, suspension systems, air brakes, HVAC, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
• Experience diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues using computerized diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read service manuals, wiring diagrams, and technical schematics.
• Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic software.
• Experience completing electronic work orders and documenting repairs accurately.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record and the ability to meet company insurance requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to safely lift heavy components and perform physically demanding work, including standing, bending, kneeling, climbing, and working in indoor and outdoor environments around heavy equipment, noise, and fumes.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check.

Preferred

• Technical certification in Diesel Technology or a related field.
• Experience with Caterpillar, Detroit Diesel, Cummins, or Volvo engines.
• Experience using Fullbay or similar fleet maintenance software.
• Experience maintaining motor coaches, transit buses, school buses, or other heavy-duty commercial vehicles.
