Title: Field Construction Inspector (Fiber Optic)
Duration: 4 Months (Duration is dependent on completion of construction)

Purpose of Position
• Client's Optical Communications’ Engineering Services (ES) department needs an experienced Outside Plant (OSP) Construction Inspector to join our Project Services (PS) group. The successful candidate will be responsible for outside plant fiber optic projects for a major customer in Pennsylvania.
• This position requires a local presence no more than one hour from the assigned project site(s). Candidate must be able to travel to job sites daily.
• The position primarily involves reporting daily production on vendor activities for Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) projects, including SFU (single family), MDU (multi-dwelling), and FTTB (business) projects from construction to test and turn-up. Ideal candidate must be able to work on a job site as needed.
Major Roles and Responsibilities
• Collect and report on daily vendor activities
• Review drawings and specifications to become completely familiar with the project
• Monitor fiber optic plant construction activities to ensure products are installed within customer guidelines and manufacturer standard recommended procedures (SRP)
• Visit project sites to evaluate progress and respond to Project Manager or customers’ concerns or questions; direct contractor activities if needed
• Report daily production utilizing Sitetracker mobile system on phone or other device
• Provide support for material inventory consumption as required
• Enforce and adhere to safety rules and practices from all governing authorities
• Understand and implement local construction methods and procedures as required
• Ensure compliance with customer and industry specifications/standards while OSP is being constructed
• Perform quality inspections for ongoing and completed work utilizing established checklists and/or other quality-related documents through Sitetracker software
• Other related duties as assigned
Education and Experience Requirements
• Valid US Driver's License, clean driving record
• High School diploma or equivalent required
Required Skills
• Ability to work independently and self-directed
• Read and understand FTTX (fiber to the home) prints
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office products: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
• Strong team player with the ability to adapt to diverse team members
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Ability to work outside normal scheduled business hours periodically
• Fluent in English
Travel
• Must live within 1 hour of Scranton/Wilkes-Barre
Work Environment
• Must be able to work in a variety of physical positions, including sitting, standing, walking (up to 5 miles per day), and driving a passenger car
• Regular exposure to all weather conditions, especially hot, humid and/or rainy spring, summer, fall weather and cold snowy winter weather, combined with regular work time indoors in environmentally controlled conditions
• May be exposed to uncomfortable or distracting sounds or noise levels on project sites
• When working on site, will be required to wear common protective safety equipment, such as safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, hard hat, and safety vest. All PPE except steel-toe boots will be provided by Client
