Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and energetic Catering Captain to lead our catering service team in delivering exceptional culinary experiences for a variety of events. Duties
- Supervise and coordinate all aspects of catering operations, including food preparation, presentation, and service delivery
- Lead and train catering staff on food handling, safety procedures, POS systems such as Heartland and Square POS, and customer service excellence
- Manage inventory control to ensure proper stock levels while minimizing waste and controlling costs
- Oversee cash handling procedures, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies
- Collaborate with clients to customize menus, accommodate dietary restrictions, and ensure event specifications are met
- Maintain high standards of food safety and sanitation in accordance with health regulations
- Oversee shift management, including scheduling staff, assigning duties, and ensuring smooth operational flow during events
- Conduct staff interviews, training sessions, and performance evaluations to develop a skilled and motivated team
- Manage kitchen operations for catering events, including food production, cooking, and presentation to ensure quality standards are met or exceeded
- Handle customer inquiries promptly and professionally to enhance guest satisfaction
- Monitor budget adherence for catering events while maintaining high-quality service standards
Experience
- Proven experience in food preparation, cooking, and managing catering or restaurant operations in a quick service or fast-food environment
- Demonstrated supervisory or management experience within the food industry or hospitality sector
- Familiarity with POS systems such as Heartland or Square for order processing and sales tracking
- Strong background in inventory control, food safety protocols, and food handling procedures
- Experience with fine dining or banquet catering is highly desirable
- Leadership skills with a track record of training and developing team members in a hospitality setting
- Knowledge of restaurant management practices including shift management, budgeting, and customer service excellence
- Prior experience working in hotel or casual dining environments is a plus
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and efficiently during busy catering events
