What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute - Educational position at Districtwide?
RSU 9 is continually recruiting substitutes in the following areas:
- Teacher
- Ed Tech
- Secretary
Employment cannot be finalized until the applicant has completed requirements for a complete background check and fingerprinting as required by Maine State Statute. Please see the information below to complete the process with the Maine Department of Education.
Who Must be Fingerprinted?
- Anyone who works for a school district that is over 18 years old
- Anyone who is contracted through a school district
What do I need to be Fingerprinted?
- Create a MEIS account: Go to https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/fingerprinting for instructions on how to create a MEIS account
- Register at https://me.ibtfingerprint.com/ to make your fingerprints appointment. ($55 fee)
- Submit a new application for CHRC. ($15 fee)
How often do I need to be Fingerprinted?
- Every 5 years, unless you have been continuously employed for the last 5 years by a Maine school district.
- **Coaches and Substitute Teachers must be fingerprinted every 5 years, regardless of continuous employment.
What is the status of my Fingerprints?
- Go to https://www.maine.gov/doe/cert/status. You will need to provide your last name and last 4 digits of your Social Security Number
