Position Summary

Hosts are responsible for greeting guests, taking reservations, answering questions, managing wait times, and escorting guests to the dining and bar areas. At all times, hosts are expected to be attentive to guests’ needs, make them feel welcome, comfortable, important and relaxed. Hosts know their demeanor and actions represent the winery and they are to provide a quality experience for guests. Hosts work in close collaboration with colleagues and must adhere to established health and safety standards. Hosts help maintain the cleanliness, presentation and ambiance of the winery and restrooms, which is an integral part of the guests’ experience. Hosts are also expected to work coat check shifts for private events.

Responsibilities

Guest Engagement & Hospitality:

  • Greet guests as soon as they enter the winery
  • Manage the flow of guests in the seating to ensure even workloads for Tasting Room staff
  • Provide guests with accurate wait time estimates during busy periods
  • Address guest concerns promptly, politely and positively
  • Contribute to event growth by creating goodwill with guests
  • Have a high level understanding of the food and beverage menus
  • Be comfortable with extreme weather during service of outside dining areas

Event Space Readiness & Maintenance:

  • Maintain a neat, organized front-of-house environment
  • Assist with opening/closing tasks and side work as needed, including polishing glassware and silverware and folding napkins
  • Perform light housekeeping duties such as cleaning windows and restrooms

Team Support:

  • Attend meetings and trainings as requested, including pre-shift meetings
  • Assist with training and mentoring of new staff

Guest Relations & Administrative Duties:

  • Answer phones and schedule small party reservations
  • Direct large party reservations to the Manager on duty
  • manage coat check for large scale events and weddings
  • Other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Experience with reservation systems is required (Open Table, Resy, etc)
  • Prior customer service or server experience preferred
  • Knowledge of Aloha POS preferred
  • Food and wine knowledge preferred
  • Proficient in English

Essential Duties

  • Flexible schedule with all nights and weekends available
  • Able to independently lift up to 50lbs for an extended period of time
  • Must be able to walk and/or stand for 8-10 hours per day
  • Hand-eye coordination
  • Reaching, bending twisting, stooping
  • Pushing and Pulling
  • Lifting overhead
  • Must be able to climb stairs in venue that have multiple levels
