Job Description:
Bixby Public Schools is seeking a qualified and experienced Journeyman Electrician to join our facilities maintenance team. This individual will be responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems and components throughout our public school buildings and grounds. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in ensuring a safe, efficient, and well-maintained environment for students, faculty, and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems, including lighting, outlets, panels, and wiring.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose electrical issues and make necessary repairs or replacements.
- Ensure that all electrical work complies with local, state, and national electrical codes.
- Perform regular inspections of electrical systems to identify potential issues and ensure safety.
- Respond to emergency repair requests, prioritizing urgent matters and maintaining minimal disruption to school activities.
- Work closely with school maintenance staff to coordinate projects and ensure timely completion.
- Maintain accurate records of electrical work completed, including inspections, repairs, and preventive maintenance.
- Communicate effectively with school administrators and staff regarding electrical needs and safety concerns.
Qualifications:
- Valid Oklahoma Journeyman Electrician License.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in electrical work, with a strong focus on commercial or institutional settings.
- Proficient in the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems.
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code (NEC) and local electrical codes.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, managing multiple tasks and priorities.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a customer-service-oriented attitude.
- Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and reliable transportation.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in educational facilities or public sector environments.
- Experience with building automation systems and energy management.
- Knowledge of electrical safety procedures and regulations.
