Reports To: Academic Office (Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction)

Position Summary
The Instructional Coach supports educators in improving instructional practices to elevate student learning outcomes across the district. This role utilizes research-based strategies, data-driven decision-making, and reflective coaching cycles to build teacher capacity, enhance instructional effectiveness, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is an inspirational educator who can empower colleagues, facilitate professional learning, and model high-impact teaching and learning practices.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
1. Instructional Coaching & Educator Development
- Provide job-embedded, non-evaluative coaching that strengthens instructional practice and supports educator growth.
- Facilitate coaching cycles that include data analysis, planning, modeling, co-teaching, and
- Model high-quality tier-one standards-aligned instruction in classrooms across grade levels and content areas.
- Inspire educators by promoting a growth mindset, celebrating successes, and motivating continuous professional improvement.
- Build strong, trusting relationships with teachers.
2. Teaching & Learning Excellence
- Support teachers with implementation of evidence-based instructional strategies aligned to district
- Promote best practices including:
- Active engagement techniques
- Differentiated instruction
- Small group instructional models
- Impactful assessment practices
- Student-centered instruction
- Effective classroom routines and procedures
- Help teachers design rigorous, relevant learning experiences that accelerate student
3. Data-Driven Decision Making
- Assist teachers in analyzing student performance data to identify trends, instructional needs, and targeted interventions.
- Support teams in setting measurable student goals and using data to monitor progress and adjust
- Collaborate with district and school leadership to review assessment results and inform school improvement planning.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Connecticut teaching certification Elementary, PK–6 (305).
- Demonstrated record of effective classroom instruction and student
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret assessment and instructional
- Expertise in evidence-based instructional and assessment
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational
Preferred Qualifications
- Instructional leadership experience
- Knowledge of MTSS, early intervention practices, and tiered instructional
- Ability to integrate instructional technology to enhance teaching and
- Strong background in K–2 instruction
