Building Services Job Description
POSITION: Building Custodian (Category I)
Full Time - 12 months per year
Approximate Shift Time: Monday – Friday 2:45 PM – 11:15 PM
SUPERVISOR: Manager of Custodial Operations
Director of Building Services
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Ability to:
- Perform skilled tasks in the repair of building fixtures, furniture, and other small repairs.
- Climb ladders to a distance of 30 feet.
- Lift and carry 70 pounds a distance of 50 feet.
- Work outdoors in a full range of weather conditions.
- Successfully work both with and without supervision, follow directions, and follow work assignments, work schedule, and procedures.
- Implement oral and written instructions, including but not limited to cleaning schedules, work orders, setup instructions, product labels, chemical mixing, and Material Safety Data sheets.
- Convey an attitude of respect, helpfulness, honesty, cooperation, and teamwork.
- Interact and communicate with staff, students, coworkers, and the public in a professional, respectful, courteous, and positive manner.
- React promptly and effectively to multiple requests and changing demands as they may arise in the workplace.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: The following is a list of the essential job functions of the position. Reasonable accommodations may be made as required by law to enable qualified individuals to perform the essential job functions.
- Security of the building. Locking/unlocking, arming, and disarming of the alarm system
- Responsible for the overall cleanliness, appearance, and maintenance of assigned work areas, to include but not limited to: carpet and hard surface corrective maintenance such as extracting/bonneting, scrubbing/stripping, and refinishing of hard surface floors.
- Responsible for all surfaces assigned including but not limited to lockers, glass, mirrors, ?xtures, floors, walls, cabinets, desks, chairs, carpet, etc.
- Responsible for all after-school activities as directed.
- Responsible for cleanliness, appearance, and minor repairs to all custodial equipment.
- Assist with set-up and or tear down for various school activities.
- Cleaning duties as assigned.
- Snow removal, sidewalks, and entryways, etc.
- Responsible for the District Laundry service.
- Assist with cafeteria clean-up as assigned.
- Other duties as assigned.
