What are the responsibilities and job description for the Athletic & District Facilities Custodian position at District Wide?
Primary Purpose:
Maintain a clean, safe, attractive, and sanitary environment at district athletic facilities, transportation facilities, maintenance facilities, and central support facilities. Perform custodial services and support facility operations to ensure district buildings and grounds are properly maintained for students, staff, and community use.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
- High School Diploma or GED preferred
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of custodial cleaning methods, materials, and equipment
- Ability to operate cleaning equipment and power tools safely
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to maintain a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends as needed for events
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills
Experience:
- Experience in custodial, maintenance, or facilities services preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Facilities Cleaning and Maintenance
- Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of assigned district facilities, including athletic facilities, field houses, locker rooms, transportation facilities, maintenance facilities, and central support offices.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, scrub, wax, and buff floors.
- Clean and sanitize restrooms, locker rooms, showers, and common areas.
- Empty trash and recycling containers and dispose of waste properly.
- Dust, clean, and disinfect furniture, fixtures, windows, and surfaces.
- Replenish restroom and custodial supplies as needed.
- Report maintenance concerns, safety hazards, vandalism, or facility damage to supervisors.
- Assist with facility setup and teardown for district events, meetings, athletic contests, and community activities.
Athletic Facilities Support
- Maintain cleanliness of athletic facilities before, during, and after practices, competitions, and special events.
- Assist in preparing athletic venues for district-hosted events and tournaments.
- Support custodial needs associated with spectator areas, concession facilities, locker rooms, and restrooms.
Safety
- Inspect machines and equipment for safety and efficiency.
- Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting, and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
- Correct unsafe conditions in work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to supervisor.
- Assist in securing assigned facilities by checking doors, gates, lights and building conditions.
- Follow district safety protocols, emergency procedures and proper handling of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
Other
- Maintain regular attendance and punctuality
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of Facilities and/or Director of Athletics
