What are the responsibilities and job description for the Business Development Representative position at District Publishing?
Our sales team is growing — and we hire people we intend to keep.
District Publishing is a B2B marketing company in Shelby Township. For over 20 years we've helped companies across the country get agency-quality marketing — funded entirely through vendor and supplier partnerships, at no cost to the client. People stay here: our team of 20 includes coordinators in year six and account people who've been here a decade. We don't hire in waves to see who sticks. We hire deliberately, train thoroughly, and keep the people we bring on.
The job: you'll call business owners and senior decision-makers at wholesale distributors across the U.S. and Canada and set qualified appointments for our senior sales team. Proven scripts, a CRM refined over 20 years, daily structure, and a team around you. No experience required — and if you've done outbound phone work before, bring your numbers to the interview.
The money — real math, not a promise:
- $18/hour base — $37,440/year, guaranteed every week, regardless of performance
- $20 for every qualified appointment you set — paid on production, week in, week out
- $100-$200 cash bonus on every deal that closes from an appointment you set
- Weekly gift-card wins for 5 qualified sets in a week
- Monthly contest: 1st $200, 2nd $100, 3rd $50
Consistent performers land at $40,000-$45,000 in year one — and there's a real path to more responsibility and more money after that. We'll show you what it looks like in the interview.
What we offer:
- Medical, Dental & Vision Insurance
- 401(k) Profit Sharing
- Paid Time Off
- 9 Paid Holidays — Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving the day after, Christmas Eve, Christmas, New Year's Eve & New Year's Day
- Office closes between Christmas and New Year's every year
- Monday-Friday. Done at 5. No nights, no weekends, no travel — ever.
Who we're looking for: confident and professional on the phone, comfortable talking with senior business decision-makers, and real satisfaction in hitting a number. Career changers from customer service, retail, or call centers are welcome — coachable and consistent beats experienced and complacent. Someone who wants to settle in, not pass through.
To apply: paid training starts Monday, August 10, so apply through Indeed by Sunday, August 2 to leave time for the interview process. We review every application personally.
