Part time position ~20 hours per week

 

We are creating excelling schools where there is a laser-like focus on Essential Elements of Instruction and moving each student to the next academic level.

 

POSITION SUMMARY: The Occupational Therapist works with students identified with having disabilities that interfere with their ability to perform daily life activities and participate in necessary and desired occupations to ensure students maximize their functional and academic development and obtain access to the general curriculum.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Conducts screening and assessments, interprets results to teacher and parents, and writes appropriate recommendation reports 
  • Validates outside diagnostic evaluations and program recommendations 
  • Develops, implements, and monitors IEPs for all students eligible for occupational therapy services 
  • Participates in IEP meetings as appropriate 
  • Provides direct services to students as indicated on specific IEP's 
  • Assists teachers in observing and describing concerns regarding impairments 
  • Recommends and assists with procurement of therapeutic equipment and materials, based on student needs and designs specialized equipment as needed 
  • Participates in the Early Intervention team process as appropriate 
  • Plans, conducts and/or participates in in-service activities in the area of occupational therapy 
  • Consults with school staff, parents and agencies regarding student needs, progress, and instructional modifications 
  • Establishes and maintain good rapport with students, employees, community members and vendors 
  • Supervises Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (COTA) 
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in written form 
  • Participates in professional growth activities 
  • Maintains a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality 
  • Performs other job related duties as assigned

 

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES AND REGISTRATION:

  • Bachelor’s degree in the area of occupational therapy
  • Master's degree preferred
  • Current Arizona Occupational Therapist License
  • Sensory Integration Certification preferred
  • Obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Identity Verified Prints (IVP) Fingerprint Clearance Card (AZ IVP FPCC)

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Completion of six (6) months of supervised clinical affiliations.
  • One (1) year of pediatric clinical experience or elementary school experience preferred

KNOWLEDGE OF:

  • Medical/surgical/pediatric information and indications for occupational therapy treatment
  • Uses and properties of supplies and equipment
  • Specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment

 

SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Computer Skills – Demonstrated competency in computer applications such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and typing.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret general documents such as employee handbooks and safety/training manuals.  Ability to write general correspondence and speak effectively with others.
  • Math Ability – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to interpret an assortment of instructions furnished in variable forms.  Ability to apply reason to research and solve moderately complex issues with little or no assistance.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
  • Physical Demands While performing the duties of this job, an employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.  The employee occasionally will stand and walk.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.  Employee will frequently interact with the public and other staff members.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.

Salary : $33,638 - $37,730
