What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychologist position at District of Columbia Public Schools (DCPS)?
About Early Stages:
Early Stages is an evaluation center for children aged 2 years 8 months to 5 years 10 months. We identify delays and disabilities that may impact a child's education. Early Stages is a program of DC Public Schools (DCPS). All our services are FREE.
Early Stages can evaluate any DC child who is not attending a DCPS school, including DC children who are homeschooled. We can also evaluate children who are not DC residents if they attend a private school or child care center in DC. We cannot evaluate children enrolled in public charter schools.
The Job:
The Psychologist will conduct psychological and psycho-educational screenings and evaluations for children referred to Early Stages. The Psychologist functions as part of a multi-disciplinary team that collaborates to determine eligibility for special education services and draft Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The Psychologist will not provide individual or group therapy.
The Psychologist will be a member of the Council of School Officers (CSO) union. This position has been designated as Safety Sensitive. Pursuant to section 410 of Chapter 4 of the D.C. Personnel Regulations; in addition to the general suitability screening, individuals applying for or occupying security sensitive positions are subject to the following checks and tests: Criminal background check; Sex Offender Registry check; Pre-employment drug and alcohol test; Traffic record check (as applicable); Reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol test; and Post-accident or incident drug and alcohol test.
