What are the responsibilities and job description for the DISPATCH ASSISTANT — 3:00 AM START position at Distribution Supply Company?
We are looking for an experienced Dispatch Assistant that will eventually move to Dispatch Lead to join our team on the early shift, starting at 3:00 AM.
About the Role:
As a Dispatch Assistant, you will support daily dispatching operations, help coordinate logistics, and assist in leading the team during early morning hours. This is a hands-on role that requires someone reliable, detail-oriented, and capable of stepping up to support the team and operations.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with dispatching and coordinating routes, orders, and personnel
* Support and help lead a team of warehouse staff during the second shift
* Operate forklifts as needed to support operations
* Utilize computer systems, dispatch software, and Excel for tracking, reporting, and communication
* Monitor workloads, help resolve issues in real-time, and maintain productivity
* Ensure safety, accuracy, and on-time performance
What We’re Looking For:
* Proven experience as a Dispatcher or Dispatch Assistant in a warehouse, distribution, manufacturing, or logistics environment (required)
* Strong leadership skills — ability to help lead and motivate a team
* Experienced forklift operator (required)
* Proficient with computers, dispatch software, and Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel)
* Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills
* Ability to work independently during early morning hours (3:00 AM start)
* Reliable, punctual, and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Compensation & Benefits:
