What are the responsibilities and job description for the Tax Manager position at Distinct | North America?
Tax Manager | Coral Gables | $130k - $160k
4 years of recent, Public Accounting experience is required.
A People First Public Accounting Firm, but what does that actually mean?
It means no burnout during tax season.
A family oriented culture that feels like home.
No Private Equity involvement. Ever.
True flexibility that works around your life, not the other way around.
School drop offs and pick ups without anyone batting an eyelid.
An annual firm wide cruise to the Bahamas.
A team that cares about you outside of the office as much as they do inside it.
And if the work gets done, and done well, the clock doesn’t matter.
This isn’t just something they put on their website, it’s how the firm operates.
This mid size Miami CPA firm has around 100 people and has managed to create something that can feel pretty rare in Public Accounting. You can build your career, work with strong clients and still have a life outside of tax.
There’s no Private Equity involvement and there never will be. People aren’t treated like numbers, Partners know their teams properly, and the culture feels much more like extended family than corporate accounting firm.
When someone needed 3 months away from work due to illness last year, they were paid in full. When another team member’s family went through an incredibly difficult period, they were given months away from work fully paid to deal with it.
That probably tells you more about the culture than any benefits brochure could.
Why people stay here:
- Busy season is around 45 to 55 hours, with 55 being the maximum rather than the expectation from January onwards.
- Hybrid and flexible schedules.
- Annual Bahamas cruise with a plus one, fully paid.
- Extra days off around April 15th, July 4th and Thanksgiving.
- Full Christmas and New Year shutdown.
- Health, dental and vision insurance.
- 401k match, Long Term Disability and life insurance.
- Twice yearly bonuses.
- Generous PTO.
- New business commission and candidate referral bonuses.
As Tax Manager, you’ll work across a broad mix of clients and have plenty of direct client contact, review responsibility and ownership over engagements.
They’re looking for someone from Public Accounting who enjoys being a generalist and doesn’t want to be boxed into one tiny area of tax.
CPA isn’t required, but at least 4 years of recent, Public Accounting experience is.
If you want to keep progressing in Public Accounting without sacrificing every other part of your life to do it, this is worth a conversation.
Salary : $130,000 - $160,000
