About the Role:
The Development Manager is responsible for driving projects from concept to completion, managing budgets, schedules, and resources while coordinating with stakeholders like engineers, contractors, and regulatory agencies. This role involves working closely with internal teams and external partners to ensure projects are successfully developed, permitted, and positioned for construction.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage development activities for projects by leveraging internal teams and external subject matter experts.
- Perform site diligence by reviewing environmental, utility, and other databases and reports.
- Conduct negotiations for site control including LOI, option to purchase, or option to lease, manage document execution, recordation of memoranda, etc.
- Coordinate greenfield land campaigns by coordinating driving site selection and due diligence process. Manage land agents on a day-to-day basis throughout land campaigns.
- Navigate and understand the interconnection process from submittal to final agreement.
- Work with and manage external consultants to complete surveys, permitting, design, real estate agreements, and grid interconnection approvals.
- Complete permitting and entitlements, including zoning, by preparing and submitting applications, managing site layout development, and attending and presenting at public meetings.
- Manage portfolios of rooftop solar projects from origination hand off to NTP.
- Manage schedule and budget to ensure timely and cost-effective project completion.
- Communicate on a regular basis in meetings with supervisor and team members.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business or another related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of development experience related to energy development.
- Proven track record seeing distributed renewable projects to NTP.
- Minimum of 3 years of project development experience in energy projects.
- Strong organizational aptitude, analytical skills, and decision-making capabilities.
- Ability to manage project-based work with tight deadlines and concurrent deliverables.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects effectively.
- Ability to collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including business development and asset management.
