Job Summary

DishwasherHero is seeking dependable and skilled Line Cooks and Prep Cooks to support food service operations at hospitality establishments throughout Miami, Florida.

We connect culinary professionals with restaurants, senior living communities, healthcare dining facilities, hotels, and other commercial kitchens requiring reliable staffing support.

The ideal candidate has hands-on food preparation experience, understands professional kitchen operations, and can maintain food quality and safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

Assignments may involve line cooking, food preparation, or a combination of both, depending on the facility's requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Line Cook Duties

• Prepare, cook, and plate menu items according to established recipes and quality standards.
• Operate commercial kitchen equipment, including grills, ovens, stovetops, and fryers.
• Maintain proper food temperatures, cooking procedures, and portion sizes.
• Prepare meals during breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special events as assigned.
• Follow customer dietary requirements and established allergen-control procedures.
• Coordinate with kitchen supervisors and other culinary team members to ensure timely food service.

Prep Cook Duties

• Wash, peel, chop, slice, and portion vegetables, meats, and other ingredients.
• Prepare sauces, soups, dressings, marinades, and other ingredients according to recipes.
• Organize ingredients and maintain adequate supplies for meal preparation.
• Label, date, rotate, and store food products appropriately.
• Assist with inventory organization and food deliveries.
• Keep food preparation stations clean and organized.

Food Safety & Workplace Standards

• Follow applicable Florida food safety and sanitation requirements.
• Maintain proper food storage, cooking, cooling, and holding temperatures.
• Prevent cross-contamination and follow food allergen procedures.
• Clean and sanitize utensils, equipment, and work surfaces.
• Follow facility safety procedures and report unsafe conditions.
• Accurately record all hours worked through the designated timekeeping system.

Qualifications

Required

• Ability to perform assigned commercial kitchen duties safely and efficiently.
• Working knowledge of food preparation and basic kitchen sanitation.
• Ability to follow recipes, preparation instructions, and workplace safety procedures.
• Strong time management, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Dependable attendance and professional workplace conduct.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Ability to complete applicable Florida-approved food service employee training within required timeframes.

Preferred

• Previous experience as a Line Cook, Prep Cook, or Kitchen Cook.
• Experience working in restaurants, hotels, catering, senior living, or healthcare food service.
• Current Florida-approved food handler training certification.
• Knowledge of food temperature controls, portion management, and special dietary preparation.
• Experience using commercial kitchen equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand and move throughout assigned kitchen shifts.
• Ability to perform repetitive food preparation tasks.
• Ability to lift and transport kitchen supplies weighing up to 40 pounds, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• Ability to work safely around hot surfaces, sharp utensils, and kitchen equipment.
• Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Compensation & Scheduling

Hourly Rate: $18.00

• Pay is based on actual hours worked.
• Shifts and weekly hours vary according to client staffing requirements and worker availability.
• Overtime compensation will be provided to eligible employees in accordance with applicable law.
• Applicable rest and meal periods will be administered in accordance with legal requirements and workplace policies.
• Available assignments and hours are not guaranteed.
