What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Staff/Farm Worker position at Discovery School?
The Maintenance and Farm Worker is responsible for the daily care and maintenance of the pre-schools farm and surrounding grounds. This includes feeding and caring for animals, cleaning and maintaining animal enclosures and assisting with general repair and maintenance tasks across the school campus. The ideal candidate is dependable, hardworking, and comfortable working both outdoors and around animals.
Key Responsibilities:
Farm Duties:
* Feed, water and care for all farm animals according to established schedules and procedures
* Clean and maintain animal pens, barns and enclosures to ensure a safe and sanitary environment.
* Monitor animal health and promptly report any concerns to the Director
* Maintain farm tools, equipment and supplies.
* Assist with planting, watering ad maintaining garden or farm areas.
* Ensure all areas of the farm are clean, organized and safe for students, staff and visitors.
School Maintenance Duties:
* Perform general maintenance repair, and cleaning tasks throughout the school grounds and facilities
* Assist with light carpentry, painting, landscaping and basic plumbing or electrical repairs as needed
* Support event setup and cleanup ( moving equipment, tables, chairs etc.).
* Ensure outdoor spaces, pathways, and playgrounds remain safe and well - maintained.
* Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
Qualifications:
* Previous experience working in maintenance, groundskeeping or farm care preferred
* Ability to safely operate and maintain tools and equipment
* Comfortable working around children and animals.
* Strong work ethic, reliability and attention to detail.
* Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and perform physical labor outdoors in various weather conditions
* Good communication and teamwork skills
Schedule:
Part-time position; schedule may include occasional weekends or early mornings for animal care.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $21.26 - $25.60 per hour
Expected hours: 30 per week
