Duties
- Develop and implement age-appropriate curriculum plans that promote early literacy, math skills, physical activity, and social-emotional learning tailored to toddlers’ developmental stages
- Create a safe, clean, and stimulating classroom environment that encourages exploration and independence
- Engage children in activities that support language development, motor skills, and emotional regulation using evidence-based teaching strategies
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians about their child's progress, behavior, and developmental milestones through meetings or written updates
- Manage classroom routines effectively, including transitions, nap times, meal times, and outdoor play
- Follow mandated reporting laws by documenting any concerns related to child welfare or safety and reporting them promptly to appropriate authorities
- Collaborate with colleagues to plan lessons that incorporate sensory activities, early intervention techniques, and inclusive practices for children with special needs
Skills
- Strong knowledge of child development principles specific to toddlers and preschool-aged children
- Experience working with children in daycare, preschool, or early childhood education settings
- Proficiency in curriculum development focused on early literacy education, math concepts, physical education, and social skills
- Ability to manage classroom behavior positively while maintaining a nurturing environment
- Excellent communication skills for engaging with children, parents, and team members effectively
- Familiarity with mandated reporting laws and child welfare best practices
- First aid and CPR certification to ensure safety during emergencies
- Experience implementing classroom management strategies that support individualized learning plans for children with special needs or requiring early intervention
- Knowledge of standardized testing procedures relevant to early childhood assessment when applicable
- Ability to plan engaging lessons that incorporate hands-on activities and promote active learning
