Position Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and energetic Teacher Assistant to support our lead teachers in creating a positive, developmentally appropriate learning environment for children ranging from infants through Pre-K.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone beginning a career in early childhood education or someone with childcare experience looking to join a supportive team.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Lead Teacher with daily classroom activities.
- Supervise children to ensure their safety and well-being.
- Help implement age-appropriate educational activities.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom.
- Assist with meals, snacks, diapering, toileting, and nap routines as needed.
- Encourage children's social, emotional, and cognitive development.
- Build positive relationships with children, families, and coworkers.
- Follow all NC child care licensing regulations and Discovery Place policies.
Qualifications
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Child care experience preferred but not required.
- Must be dependable, patient, and enjoy working with young children.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds and actively engage with children throughout the day.
- Must pass all required background checks.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus (or willingness to obtain after hire).
