Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Fabricator at Discovery Lab, located in Tulsa, OK. The Fabricator will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining exhibits and components that align with the museum’s STEAM-focused mission. Day-to-day tasks include using creative, technical, and mechanical skills to fabricate and repair exhibit structures, ensuring on-site and off-site exhibitions are engaging, functional, and safe for visitors of all ages. The role also involves collaborating with the museum’s education, programming, and design teams to create high-quality learning experiences.
Qualifications
- Proficiency in building, woodworking, and operating tools such as saws, drills, and sanders
- Experience in technical drawing or exhibit design for production
- Skills in welding, carpentry, and other fabrication techniques
- Ability to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair mechanical components of exhibits
- Experience in problem solving, critical thinking, and collaboration with diverse teams
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Familiarity with materials like metal, wood, acrylic, and other exhibit construction mediums
- Flexibility to handle hands-on tasks and manage multiple projects
- Ability to lift and move heavy objects as needed for exhibit assembly
- Previous experience in museums, science centers, or similar environments is preferred but not required
