Part Time School Counselor

Duties

• Deliver individual sessions focused on academic advising, emotional well-being, and behavioral management.
• Collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents, and mental health professionals to develop tailored support plans for students.
• Assist students in developing social skills, conflict resolution strategies, and coping mechanisms aligned with childhood development principles.
• Conduct assessments related to behavioral health needs, including standardized testing and behavioral observations.
• Ensure compliance with educational regulations and school policies related to student welfare and confidentiality of sensitive information.
• Coordinate with child protective services or other community agencies when necessary to ensure student safety and welfare.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in School Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Valid school counselor certification/license as required by state or local regulations.
• Experience working with children from diverse cultural backgrounds in educational or social service settings.
• Strong knowledge of special education laws, school policies, and educational compliance standards.
• Proficiency in conflict management techniques and behavioral health interventions.
• Excellent communication skills for parent engagement and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Familiarity with childhood development stages, adolescent issues, and mental health counseling practices.
• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion while maintaining professionalism at all times.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment supporting student success through social-emotional guidance.
