Position Summary
This position is supervised by the Director of Nursing, however on a day to day basis, the nursing assistant may be given direction by the RN/LPN on duty. Medical Assistants are cross-trained to perform administrative and clinical duties which, by design and intent, assists nursing staff accomplish a variety of patient related tasks.

Essential Job Functions
- Performs administrative duties such as welcoming patients and visitors, answering department phones, assisting with discharge or transfer procedures.
- Responsible for taking patient history and preparing patient for examination.
- Assisting the physician during examinations.
- Collecting and preparing laboratory specimens.
- Transmitting prescription refills as directed by physician.
- Responding to patient call bells timely.
- Administering medications as directed by physician.
- Instructing patients about medications and special diet needs.
- Ensuring all documentation is timely and according to established protocols.
- Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of the job.
- High school diploma or equivalency.
- Certified as a Medical Assistant preferred.
- Previous experienced in substance abuse disorder preferred.
