This role supports mission-critical cybersecurity engineering, systems analysis, penetration testing, RMF activities, and network security operations for complex Navy warfare and training systems. The position supports secure system design, testing, evaluation, lifecycle management, and operational cybersecurity initiatives across classified and tactical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide cybersecurity engineering and network security support for Navy and DoD systems operating in both afloat and ashore environments.
- Support Risk Management Framework (RMF) activities including development of technical artifacts, A&A documentation, system categorization, security control implementation, and continuous monitoring.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, security analysis, and compliance reviews using tools such as ACAS, STIG Viewer, eMASS, SCC, Nessus, and related cybersecurity toolsets.
- Perform systems engineering, network engineering, and lifecycle cybersecurity support throughout the Systems Engineering V-Model lifecycle.
- Support secure architecture development, network segmentation, zero trust initiatives, and cybersecurity resiliency planning.
- Analyze system vulnerabilities and provide mitigation recommendations for Windows, Linux, VMware, Cisco, and embedded systems environments.
- Support configuration management, baseline tracking, patch management, and cybersecurity compliance efforts.
- Assist with development of Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs), Ship Change Documents (SCDs), and technical documentation.
- Provide support for Cyber Red Team and Blue Team activities, ethical hacking, penetration testing, and cybersecurity exercises.
- Support fleet and installation services including system integration, certifications, casualty support, and shipboard cybersecurity engineering efforts.
- Develop cybersecurity reports, diagrams, technical documentation, test procedures, risk assessments, and vulnerability remediation plans.
- Participate in system testing, evaluation, and operational assessments to validate cybersecurity posture and compliance requirements.
- Collaborate with government stakeholders, engineers, system administrators, and cybersecurity teams to resolve technical issues and improve security posture.
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related technical field.
- Minimum of 8 years of relevant cybersecurity, network engineering, or systems security experience.
- Active Secret Clearance required.
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- DoD 8570/8140 IAT Level III certification required (CISSP, etc.)
- Experience supporting RMF, A&A, and cybersecurity compliance activities within DoD or Navy environments.
- Hands-on experience with cybersecurity assessment and vulnerability management tools.
- Experience with Windows and Linux system administration, VMware environments, and Cisco networking technologies.
- Experience supporting secure network architectures, cybersecurity engineering, and vulnerability remediation.
- Strong understanding of DISA STIGs, NIST SP 800-53, RMF, CNSSI 1253, and DoD cybersecurity policies.
- Ability to support classified environments and work on-site in Virginia Beach, VA.
- Experience supporting NAVSEA, NSWCDD, or Navy tactical systems environments.
- Experience with Red Team/Blue Team operations and penetration testing methodologies.
- Familiarity with eMASS, Splunk, SolarWinds, Microsoft Defender, ESS, and vulnerability scanning tools.
- Experience supporting shipboard systems, fleet modernization, or AIT installations.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture, Cyber Resiliency, Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning applications in cybersecurity.
- Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as CISSP, CASP , CEH, or similar advanced certifications preferred.
