The First Five Program provides trauma-informed, behavior-analytic services to support young children and their families by strengthening early learning environments. The program’s overarching goal is to help early learning center staff build trauma-informed classroom cultures while reducing challenging behaviors and preventing preschool expulsion.

Position Summary:

The Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) is a professional clinical role within the First Five program, providing behavior-analytic assessment, consultation, and intervention services to children ages 0–5 in early learning centers and home settings. The BCBA collaborates closely with families, early learning staff, and interdisciplinary team members to design, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans using trauma-informed and developmentally appropriate practices.

The BCBA is an integral member of the First Five Intervention Team and participates in the interdisciplinary team (IDT) process, supporting children identified as needing behavioral intervention across varying levels of complexity and risk of expulsion.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and behavioral observations in early learning centers and home environments
  • Develop, implement, and monitor individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) and social skill acquisition programs for children ages 0–5
  • Provide trauma-informed, developmentally appropriate behavior-analytic interventions that support emotional regulation, coping strategies, and relationship-building
  • Collaborate with families, early learning center staff, classroom consultants, Behavior Specialists, and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure consistent implementation of interventions across settings
  • Provide training, modeling, and coaching to staff and families on behavioral strategies and intervention plans
  • Identify children requiring behavioral support and determine appropriate service pathways based on complexity (low, moderate, or high)
  • Respond to critical incidents, including behaviors that may result in expulsion (e.g., aggression, self-injury, property destruction), by providing immediate on-site behavioral consultation
  • Participate in post-incident debriefings with staff to review response effectiveness and identify strategies for improvement
  • Assist with implementation of strategies developed by classroom consultants or SMEs in both school and home environments
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and meet productivity requirements of 120 client service hours per month
  • Serve as a field-based provider delivering services across early learning centers and family homes

Additional Expectations:

  • Actively participate as a member of the First Five interdisciplinary team
  • Demonstrate commitment to trauma-informed care, cultural humility, and family-centered practices
  • Maintain BCBA certification and adhere to BACB ethical guidelines
  • Willingness and ability to provide essential services during emergencies, pandemics, or disaster situations as an essential services provider
Qualifications:

Qualifications:

  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification
  • Experience working with young children (ages 0–5) preferred
  • Experience in early learning, preschool, or community-based settings strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed behavior analysis and early childhood development
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and training skills
