What are the responsibilities and job description for the Human Resource Generalist position at DIRECT Staffing Solutions?
The HR Generalist will assist the Human Resources Department with the day-to-day functions of the department. Handles the administrative tasks and routine functions. Provides support for HR related activities. This position directly reports to the Human Resources Manager.
Primary Roles/Responsibilities:
Onboard all new hires completing all steps to assure a smooth, positive transition into the organization.
Responsible for inputting all employee information into the HRIS system and benefit portals accurately and in the timeliest manner.
Assist in generating recommendations to improve processes such as onboarding, offboarding, record keeping, data collection and the like to highlight best practices in the industry.
Maintain an updated organizational chart for the entire company and its divisions.
Generate updated job descriptions for the organization.
Assist with recruitment by generating postings, scheduling interviews, screening resumes and conducting phone interviews.
Set-up and complete all personnel records and I-9 forms.
Process the monthly reconciliation and payments for all employee insurance providers.
Act as a liaison between insurance carriers, the benefit administrators and employees to resolve issues.
Assist in resolving routine employee concerns with benefits, payroll, and other matters.
Provide input into the Company quarterly newsletter.
Provide clerical and administrative support as directed by the Manager and VP of HR.
Assist with special projects as deemed appropriate by Management.
Required Skills/Competencies:
Basic understanding of employment laws and compliance required (EEO, FMLA, ADA, DOL, etc.).
Experience with data sharing system such as Share Point, One Drive, or similar software.
Experience with HR data entry, insurance carrier websites, and payroll required.
Ability to work cohesively with other departments within Company.
Effective written and verbal communication skills required.
Strong organizational skills: ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines.
Ability to work independently, take initiative, set priorities, and follow projects to completion.
Ability to think “out of the box” for continuous process improvement.
Strong problem-solving skills required.
Strong, positive customer service approach to employees and management.
Key Must Have’s:
Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business Administration required.
Need ‘entry level with some experience’ Only looking for 2-3 years of working in HR dept or as an HR Assist / HR Coordinator.
Have some foundation of HR even if it is from an Internship.
Will be in charge of onboarding – must have a Customer Service mindset.
Will be helping with interviews, setting up interviews, phone screens, finding out comp range, etc in terms of recruiting.
Data entry into payroll system to set up new hire employee files up in payroll system and in the benefits system – “Employee Navigator.”
Strong attention to detail.
Strong computer skills (e.g., Excel, Microsoft Word, Outlook, and HR/payroll databases) required particularly in Excel and PowerPoint. not super high level they can teach pivot tables and Vlook ups
Exposure and some knowledge of Benefits – have a benefits foundation – will be paying invoices for benefits and will also be auditing this.
Handling COBRA – monitoring and audit the COBRA which is outsourced.
Helping with company events.
