We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Accountant to join our team. This role involves preparing tax returns, advising clients on tax strategies, and ensuring compliance with federal and state tax laws. The Tax Accountant will also play a crucial role in financial reporting and analysis, contributing to the overall financial health of our organization.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file federal and state tax returns for individuals, corporations, and non-profit organizations.
- Conduct thorough reviews of financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with GAAP.
- Provide expert advice on estate planning, wills, trusts, and estate law.
- Assist clients with mergers & acquisitions by providing tax implications analysis.
- Perform auditing tasks to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Prepare financial reports, including balance sheets and income statements.
- Conduct account reconciliations and maintain accurate general ledger accounting.
- Utilize accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, or Xero for bookkeeping and financial reporting.
- Analyze financial data to identify trends and provide insights for decision-making.
- Collaborate with clients on budgeting, payroll, accounts payable, and asset management strategies.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of tax accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in financial software including Quicken and various accounting systems.
- Understanding of securities law, corporate accounting, and public accounting standards.
- Familiarity with LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) regulations is a plus.
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial reports.
- Experience in auditing processes and regulatory reporting requirements.
- Solid understanding of double-entry bookkeeping concepts including debits & credits.
- Ability to communicate effectively with clients regarding financial concepts and strategies.
- Knowledge of financial services including investment management and private equity considerations.
