Contract Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney (Remote)
Direct Counsel is partnering with a well-regarded Los Angeles-based firm seeking a Contract Workers’ Compensation Defense Attorney to support their active workers’ comp team. The firm is open to reviewing candidates with any level of experience in Workers Compensation Defense or Insurance Coverage, and the position offers remote flexibility.
Key Requirements:

Experience with workers' compensation defense (open to a range of backgrounds)

Strong legal research, writing, and litigation skills

Familiarity with insurance coverage or WC carrier-side work

Comfortable working on matters involving a national carrier providing excess reimbursement policies to qualified self-insureds
Responsibilities:

Handle legal matters related to workers' compensation defense

Conduct in-depth legal research and analysis

Draft legal documents, including memoranda, motions, and briefs

Provide legal counsel to clients

Represent clients in hearings and trials, as needed
Qualifications:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree

Active California bar admission

Proven ability to work independently and collaborate with legal teams

Demonstrated interest or experience in workers’ compensation and/or insurance defense
