What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Litigation Paralegal position at Direct Counsel?
Direct Counsel is partnering with a highly respected litigation firm to identify an experienced Senior Litigation Paralegal to join its team.
This is a lead-level, hands-on role ideal for a seasoned professional who thrives in a fast-paced litigation environment and is comfortable managing cases from inception through trial while mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a high-volume caseload across all phases of litigation, including trial
- Provide guidance and oversight to junior litigation assistants and secretaries
- Coordinate and manage discovery, including reviewing responses and identifying issues
- Assist with expert identification, retention, and coordination
- Review medical records and support expert evaluations
- Drive trial preparation, including drafting pleadings and attending trial as needed
- Maintain regular communication with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and attorneys
Qualifications
- 10 years of litigation experience
- Background in personal injury and/or environmental law strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of California civil procedure and court rules
- Experience with filings in state, federal, and appellate courts preferred
- Trial experience is a plus
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to manage competing deadlines
- Typing speed of 70 WPM
- Spanish language skills are a plus
