Projects & Infrastructure Energy Associate Attorney

Direct Counsel is seeking a Projects & Infrastructure Associate Attorney to join a highly regarded Am Law 100 firm in Boston, New York, or Washington, DC.

Salary: $260,000–$365,000, plus bonus eligibility
Experience: 3–5 years

The associate will join a sophisticated Projects & Infrastructure practice advising clients on the development, structuring, and financing of energy and sustainable infrastructure projects. The team works with clients throughout the project lifecycle, from initial concept through development and financing, across a broad range of renewable energy and infrastructure transactions.

• Advise clients on U.S. project development and finance transactions involving distributed and utility-scale renewable energy projects.

• Draft and negotiate project financing documentation, including purchase agreements, partnership agreements, credit agreements, security and pledge agreements, and depositary agreements.

• Draft and negotiate commercial project documentation, including development agreements, power purchase agreements (PPAs), engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) agreements, site control agreements, and interconnection agreements.

• Conduct and oversee due diligence related to project development, financing, and commercial agreements.

• Support transactions involving energy storage, wind, solar, renewable fuels, digital infrastructure, and other sustainable infrastructure projects.

• Assist with project mergers and acquisitions and tax equity transactions.

• J.D. or LL.M. from an ABA-accredited law school.

• 3–5 years of project development and finance experience at a law firm.

• Experience with U.S. project development and financing for distributed and utility-scale renewable energy projects.

• Familiarity with principal project financing documentation and commercial agreements.

• Admission to, or eligibility for admission to, the bar in Massachusetts, New York, or Washington, DC.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with sophisticated clients.

• Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to prioritize competing responsibilities.

• A collaborative approach and the ability to work effectively within a team.

Experience with energy storage, wind, solar, renewable fuels, digital infrastructure, project M&A, or tax equity transactions is a plus.

The firm encourages attorneys to work from the office approximately 60% of the time under its hybrid work guidelines.

The anticipated salary range is $260,000–$365,000, depending on experience and qualifications. The position is bonus eligible and includes a comprehensive benefits package.
