Direct Counsel is seeking a Private Client Trusts & Estates Associate Attorney to join the nationally recognized private client practice of a leading East Coast law firm in Stamford, Connecticut.
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with 4 years of trusts and estates experience to work in a sophisticated, high-net-worth private client practice handling estate planning, trust and estate administration, charitable giving, and tax-efficient family wealth transfer strategies.

Position Overview
The ideal candidate will have:
- Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated estate planning and estate/trust administration experience
- Knowledge of relevant state and federal tax laws
- Experience working with high-net-worth individuals and families
- Experience with charitable giving, retirement asset planning, and family wealth transfer strategies, including estate, tax, business succession, and asset protection planning
The firm offers a hybrid work environment allowing attorneys to work remotely two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise clients on high-net-worth estate planning strategies
- Draft and implement:
- Wills and revocable/irrevocable trusts
- Family succession and wealth transfer structures
- Estate and fiduciary administration documents
- Counsel clients on tax-efficient wealth transfer strategies
- Support charitable and philanthropic planning
- Collaborate with tax advisors, financial planners, and other multidisciplinary teams
- Engage with clients on estate, business succession, and asset protection planning
Qualifications
- JD from an accredited law school
- Minimum 4 years of trusts and estates experience
- Strong drafting, technical, and client counseling skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Team-oriented and collaborative
- Connecticut bar admission required, or willingness to become admitted
- Admission to New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Florida, or Rhode Island bars is a plus
