Direct Counsel is seeking a highly qualified Patent Prosecution Agent with at least 3 full years of patent prosecution experience to join the Intellectual Property practice of a leading Am Law firm. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and experience supporting sophisticated patent portfolios for Fortune 200 clients.
Position Highlights

At least 3 full years of patent prosecution experience

Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering required

Additional academic credentials in materials science, physics, or other engineering disciplines will also be considered

Registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO)

Strong technical expertise and/or patent prosecution experience involving LTE/5G/6G wireless networks, computer hardware, artificial intelligence, and deep learning

Ability to analyze complex technologies and work directly with inventors and in-house counsel

Experience developing and managing strategic patent portfolios

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment
Responsibilities

Prepare, file, and prosecute U.S. and foreign patent applications

Conduct inventor interviews and collaborate with clients to identify and protect innovative technologies

Prepare office action responses, conduct examiner interviews, and draft other prosecution-related documents

Support the development and management of domestic and international patent portfolios

Monitor emerging technologies and developments in patent law relevant to client industries

Work under partner-level supervision and mentoring while developing sophisticated patent prosecution strategies
Compensation
$150,000–$250,000 base salary, depending on experience, education, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors. Additional compensation may include a discretionary bonus and comprehensive benefits.
